The Hue Music and Arts Festival took place from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Dateland Park in Coachella, California.
The Hue was organized by youth from throughout the valley and especially from Desert Mirage High School. The students helped prepare the event that was free to the public. Countless hours were put in to plan, create and execute the festival and the outcome was successful. Children  and adults of all ages attended..
The festival consisted of various art installations and music performances from local as well as international artists. A chalk walk area was available for teens and adults to create their own artwork using chalk on the blacktop beneath their feet. There were also other art installations where artists used aerosol paint on canvas and plywood.  There were areas where sculptures and various murals were on display.
At this year’s festival, 30 artists performed a variety of music genres on three different stages during the day providing enjoyable background music.   Most notably the 2013 Grammy award winning Chicano rock band, Quetzal, closed the evening festivities.
There were plenty of local art and food vendors, along with local businesses that attended the festival, showcasing their own products and services.
Located near the vendors were Classic cars and low-riders on display for festival goers to enjoy.
Families visited a pop-up library featuring an array of books that ranged from cultural subjects to fictional stories and mythology.
The “Game of Skate” was a contest sponsored by Epidemic Skate shop.  It took place at the Coachella Skate Park during the festival. The winner of the competition received a years supply of skateboards.
